From the first time that I met Bella, I noticed a self confidence that is quite rare. This girl knows what she wants to do in life and there is no doubt that she will be successful as she heads off to Belmont University next fall. With an opportunity to continue her study of music and pursue a nursing degree, the future is bright. We started out in a wooded setting and then on to downtown Bristol for some fun urban images, including a few with her Taylor acoustic guitar. Because music is such a big part of her life, we finished with a few studio portraits where Bella sang using a vintage Shure microphone. Between these girls, they have all the bases covered – enthusiastic, sweet, sassy, and just plain fun! They were both naturals in front of the camera and so easy to direct. I loved capturing their unique personalities and their special relationship as sisters who clearly look out for one another. We moved from the downtown streets to a neighboring park and then back to the studio for some more commercial looks. The only difficult part of this session was trying to narrow down the number of great images to a reasonable number, and that’s a great problem to have.
The first time that I met Nick and Taylor, I knew that I would love to photograph them – big enthusiasm, lots of energy and cuteness for days! These two are such great friends and I was able to capture them just being themselves, while they played in their own back yard. A nearby field provided a little change of scenery and the setting sun was a bonus! I’m looking forward to getting the whole family next time!
The connection between generations of women is so powerful, but it is rarely captured in a portrait. With one daughter heading off to college and another entering her senior year, it was the perfect time to document the relationship of this sweet family. We planned the session at their home and included a few images that show the incredible views and landscape that make their home extra special.
I don’t often have the opportunity to photograph a special pet, but for this engagement session it was definitely essential. Nora had been wanting a puppy and Andrew surprised her with Shelby. She was overjoyed with her new friend and then Andrew pointed out another surprise tied to her new puppy’s collar – a beautiful diamond ring. Well, it just doesn’t get any better than that! What a great evening, revisiting the park where Andrew proposed and then traveling to downtown Nashville for a sunset session on the pedestrian bridge. These two will tie the knot this fall and it promises to be a stunning event.
